1. Sandy Hook Bike Path, Monmouth County

Enjoy sea breezes, stunning views of the ocean, and maritime forests as you pedal 8.7 miles along the Sandy Hook peninsula. This asphalt multi-use trail will take you to historic locations like Fort Hancock and the Sandy Hook Lighthouse.

 

2. Ocean City Boardwalk, Cape May County

Bike along the long Ocean City boardwalk to enjoy the breathtaking ocean views. Summertime pedestrian traffic makes it common for riding the boards to be limited to the hours of 5 a.m. to noon, so be sure to first check the hours that bikes are allowed to be ridden.

3. Edgar Felix Memorial Bikeway, Monmouth County

You'll pass by everything on this 3.4-mile trail, from upscale neighborhoods to dense forests, and it ends at Allaire State Park. You can go hiking on more trails nearby, visit the Historic Village at Allaire, a recreation of a 19th-century village, or camp here the night.

 

4. Pine Barrens River Ramble, Atlantic and Burlington Counties

The Pine Barrens River Ramble, a 42.6-mile loop that travels through pine and oak forests, alongside blueberry and cranberry bogs, and by three significant rivers, is a great way to discover the beauty of the Pinelands National Reserve. Visit Batsto Village before or after your ride if you want to, as the route starts from the parking lot there. 

5. Union Transportation Trail, Monmouth County

This "rail trail" is a multi-use path built on the foundation of an old railroad, providing a gravel pathway that winds through fields, forests, and charming rural scenery. While biking, keep an eye out for other bikers, joggers, and horseback riders.
